Governing Council & National Officers

Steve's most recent role was Chief Fire Officer for Surrey Fire & Rescue Service which he retired from in June 2022.

Steve became the President of the British Fire Services Association in June 2021.

Seamus has worked in the Fire Protection Industry since 2017 as a Fire Safety & Risk Management Consultant in West Sussex, prior to this Seamus was a Health & Safety Manager for a private care provider.

Seamus joined the governing council in 2019 and became the Vice Chairman in March 2021 and the Chairman in October 2022

 Paul joined the BFSA in 1984 as a corporate member, Paul has worked predominantly in industrial fire safety. Paul became chair of the London & South East District in 2017, joined the governing council in 2019 and became the Vice Chairman in March 2023. 

In October 2020 Paul was awarded the Long Service Silver Oak Leaf for 40 years' service. 

Graham served the London Fire Brigade for 32 years before working as a Fire Safety Consultant for the last 7 Years.

Graham has held the post of General Secretary since 2017 and was a member of the governing council for 24 years prior to taking up his current position.

Matt is a serving Watch Manager with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service and has just completed 30 years service in both operational and fire control roles.

Matt joined the governing council in 2019 and became the Vice Chairman then Chairman in 2020.

 Frank joined the BFSA in 1970 whilst working as an industrial Fire Officer, in 1999 Frank began working as a Fire Protection Engineer until 2004.

Frank is a fellow of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers and a committee member of the BFSA Members Welfare Fund

Frank joined the governing council in 2007 and held the position of Chairman from 2016 - 2020.

Thomas has been the Association's Chaplain since 1996.

Ordained in 1995 Thomas served as a parish priest in the Dioceses of Gloucester and Salisbury.

In 2019 Thomas was appointed Chaplain of the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy, Chaplain of the Royal Victorian Order and a Deputy Priest-in-Ordinary to Her Majesty the Queen.

Thomas is a Canon of the Chapels Royal and a Canon Emeritus of Salisbury Cathedral.

 Vernon joined Cape Hill Brewery Fire Brigade in 1965 and became Station Officer in 1980 and Site Fire Safety Office in 1987.  Vernon has been actively involved in the West Midlands District holding several offices and has been a Governing Council Member since 1996. 

George Joined Lancashire County Fire Brigade in 1964 and having served in Greater Manchester, Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire retired after 34 years service. 

Served on the Governing Council from 1987 and now Honorary Secretary and Treasurer of the Members Welfare Fund Trust.

Chris is the Governing Council Member for Scotland.

Chris is a Watch Commander with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
