As Halloween approaches and many children will be dressing up for the event, the BFSA would remind parents of the dangers of potentially flammable costumes. They are not tested to the same safety standards as regular clothing being classed as toys.
There has been a campaign on TV consumer programmes and in the news which highlight some very tragic and upsetting cases.
Although many stores have withdrawn such costumes there may be many sitting in children’s toy boxes.
The BFSA advises extra caution regardless of the type of fancy dress costumes when around naked flames and candles especially when young children are out enjoying the Halloween events.
