The Firefighters Memorial Trust has been invited by the Royal British Legion (RBL) to identify and nominate members who may be interested in the National VJ Anniversary Commemorations being held in London on Saturday 15 August 2015.
The events are a Drumhead Service and Flypast on Horse Guards Parade (at 1400 hrs) a Veterans Parade down Whitehall ( at 1500 hrs) and an Afternoon Reception for Veterans and VIP guests at College Gardens, Westminster Abbey ( at 1530 till 1800 hrs).
Veterans will be able to bring along a direct family member or carer as appropriate.
The RBL are mindful that some veterans are sadly no longer with us or are unable to make the journey to London. On their behalf, there is an opportunity for one direct descendant to attend the Drumhead Service on Horse Guards Parade.
In terms of eligibility to attend the commemorations the requirement is that all veterans are BURMA STAR or PACIFIC STAR holders.
The Trust Cenotaph Director, Peter Cowland, has a supply of application forms so should you wish to attend, be qualified to attend or know of a suitable VJ Veteran please contact him urgently on 01727 865106 / 07775 673491 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . The DEADLINE for applications is Friday 17 July, so please contact him as soon as possible please.
Thanks. Pete Cowland
